The Crowd Favorite: The A-Line Skirt

Much of the pressure on the bride to look her best on her wedding day stems from the fact that she knows that everyone’s eyes will remain focused on her from the start of the ceremony until the very end of reception.
Finding the perfect dress is a time consuming, exciting, and at the same time financially and emotionally draining process. To help you out with your dress hunt, we’ve decided to feature some wedding gown styles we know you’d like. In this article, we focus on the universally flattering A-Line skirt.
Why We Like It:

The A-Line dress style flatters everybody; regardless of shape, size or height, you’re sure to look fabulous in this wedding gown style. We also love how this style of dress is very classy and elegant, with its clean lines and graceful cut.
As you can already gather from its name, the A-Line skirt has an almost triangular or “A”-shape and flared appearance. The skirt is definitely less full than the ballerina skirt and the ball gown, but it has enough body and width to hide wide hips.
Traditionally, A-Line wedding gown styles usually have no seams present at the gown’s waistline.
Who Should Wear It:
As we’ve already mentioned before, the A-Line skirt is universally flattering. It’s the perfect dress style if you happen to have a slim and well-defined waist.

It doesn’t matter if you have wide hips or slim hips, the shape of the A-Line skirt provides you a lovely hourglass silhouette.
There are a few basic rules you’ll have to remember when it comes to designing or picking out your A-Line gown. If you have wide hips, then the basic rule goes “the wider your hips, the wider the skirt base.” The wide base allows the gown to mask the actual width of your hips.
If you have a small bust or bosom, pick a neckline that enhances your chest area. A bateau neckline with an A-Line skirt provides an incredibly feminine and curvy appearance.
If you have a thick waist, look for a neckline that balances your figure or creates the illusion of curves. Going for an off-shoulder or scoop neckline can help give you an hourglass silhouette.
For a fairytale look, go for the princess dress shape, with an A-Line skirt combined with a strapless or sweetheart neckline.
What to Wear With It:

During winter weddings or evening weddings, it’s always a great thing to have something that will keep you warm. The right wedding over-clothes can be the most practical addition to your A-Line wedding gown. A bolero, a shawl or a capelet can provide you warmth, while keeping you looking chic, sleek and classy.
If you’re going for a strapless number, go for simple jewelry or a chain necklace with a simple pendant. Remember, don’t go overboard with the bling. When it comes to jewelry, less is definitely more.
When sporting a sash belt, a brooch is always a great way to bring color to your outfit. Additional beading or the use of appliqués on the hem and the bodice of your dress can also bring a more personalized and unique look to your gown.
