Platform-detractors may tell you that these tall and stylish shoes have been out of style for over 30 years, but don’t let their remarks take you down from your six-inch-or-higher pedestal. Platform shoes are still considered vogue, even in the world of wedding attire.

Fun and fashion-fabulous platform high heels, or simply put, platforms, offer the perfect blend of comfort and style. They come in different shapes, heel-heights and styles, making them the perfect footwear for both formal and casual settings. These cool and trendy shoes are perfect for women experiencing trouble walking in high heels.

These fun shoes make you look taller than you actually are without necessarily compromising your balance. While there may be some brides out there who consider walking on stilettos as normal and effortless as breathing, we can’t all be that lucky.

Choosing Your Wedding Platform Shoes

If you’re balance-impaired or on the petite side, then you can enhance both your height and your balancing skills with these perfect shoes. To help you pick out your perfect bridal platforms, here are some tips designed to lead you to your dream bridal shoes.

Tip 1: Make sure your platforms match your wedding dress.

This isn’t just about the fabric or the style of your shoes; we’re also talking about picking the right color.

First off, pick platforms that match your wedding dress color. If you’re wearing a white gown, then make sure your platforms are pale-pearl or white in color. If, on the other hand, you’re wearing an off-white or cream number, then ivory or pearl platforms will work exceptionally well with your classy and stylish outfit.

For a little variety, you can choose to wear silver wedding platform shoes instead of the traditional white or cream variations.

Tip 2: Don’t overdo it.

If you’re wearing an exceptionally ornate gown, you don’t need to wear sequined or rhinestone-covered platforms. Plain platforms or platforms with little ornamentation would do just fine.

If your gown is on the "simple and sweet" side, then go for platforms that will create an impact on your guests. Silver platforms complete with embroidery or appliqué designs are not just du jour, they’re fashionably timeless.

Tip 3: Forget about going designer.

There’s a difference between being irrationally cheap and being a practical shopper. Weddings are absolutely pricey affairs, so learn to cut costs where you can. Although designer shoes are nice to have, chances are you’ll only wear your bridal shoes once in your lifetime.

Avoid making an unnecessarily pricey and useless purchase by going for reasonably priced and high quality platforms. There are a lot of online providers and distributors with great platform shoes with even greater price tags. Shop smart and look at all your options instead of purchasing the first designer platforms you set your eyes on.

Tip 4: Make sure you buy the right size.

Instead of going for your regular shoe size, go for bridal platform shoes that are half a size bigger than your regular footwear.

The small shoe-allowance lets your feet breathe, and saves you from purchasing bridal shoes that are a size or two too small.

Some people call this tactic being cautious, but we call it smart shopping! Consider comfort, price and style when purchasing your platform shoes.

What Other People Thought

I'm not a style expert, but even I can see that platform shoes and wedding gowns don't go together. I mean, it's just too funky to be formal. I guess you can wear it if you're wearing a more modern wedding gown, but if you're wearing a formal gown, forget it.

Platforms, out of style? Hah! I wonder who these people are. Platform shoes, like most retro styles, are making a comeback. And who would see platforms in wedding gowns anyway? They're almost always hidden by the dress.
