Choosing your wedding footwear is one of the most important wedding-related decisions you’ll have to make. Although it might be tempting to splurge on a gorgeous pair of designer stilettos, you have to make sure you feel comfortable with your shoe-choice.

The actual wedding ceremony may just take a couple of hours, but in most cases, receptions tend to last up to five or six hours. What’s the use of having fabulous and fashionable footwear if you can’t dance the night away or mingle with your guests because your feet are killing you?

The Advantages of Ballet Slippers

Remember that you’re not required to wear high heels at your wedding. In fact, if your groom happens to be just a couple of inches taller than you, it’s more advisable to wear flats to your wedding to avoid appearing awkward during photo ops. Although you can also go for simple flip flops for a beach wedding or simple flats, ballet slippers are highly recommended for formal occasions.

You don’t have to be a ballerina to appreciate this type of comfortable and stylish wedding footwear. Ballet slippers are designed to provide excellent support with just the right amount of padding needed to make you feel comfortable and still look absolutely fashionable. Ballet slippers come in different styles and designs, guaranteed to leave your feet feeling good all day.

Some of the most common wedding or bridal ballet slipper designs on the market include satin ballet shoes. Satin ballet shoes are ideal for brides who prefer to add a little extra shine and sheen to their wedding attire. Aside from satin, other popular fabrics used in the creation of wedding ballet shoes are suede, polyester, cotton, and sometimes even leather.

To help you find the perfect bridal ballet slippers, we’ve come up with a list of helpful tips designed to bring you closer to the perfect wedding footwear.

Tip 1: Consider your wedding dress fabric when picking out your ballet slippers.

In the same way that wedding gowns differ with regard to fabrics used, ballet slippers are also crafted from various materials.

If you’re wearing a silk or a satin dress for your big day, then choose satin ballet slippers that match your outfit.

If you’re going for a lacy dress, then find ballet slippers with lace accents, lovely appliqué designs or excellent embroidery.

Tip 2: Find the right color.

Color coordination is one of the most important rules of fashion. Creating color contrast is great, but if it’s a formal wedding, tone the color contrasts down a bit.

Wear white or pale-pearl ballet slippers with a white gown, and pearl or ivory slippers with a cream or off-white wedding dress.

Tip 3: Keep your budget in mind when shopping for your bridal shoes.

Weddings are costly, and with all the bills you need to pay, do you really think it would be wise to splurge on footwear that you’ll likely be wearing only once your entire life?

Being a practical shopper is worlds apart from being an irrationally frugal one. Just keep in mind that you don’t need to go for designer bridal shoes. There are numerous online shops that sell exquisite and fashionable ballet slippers for half the price of designer shoes.

Tip 4: Consider going for lace up ballet slippers.

There is nothing more delicate and feminine than a pair of lace up ballet slippers. Instead of simply going for ballet flats, consider going for lovely dyeable lace up ballet slippers for added charm.

Tip 5: Purchase the right size.

Always pick bridal shoes that are half a size bigger than what you’d normally go for. The extra space in your slipper will give your feet enough room to breathe and ensure that they won’t be too small.

When choosing your bridal ballet slippers, always keep in mind comfort, price and style.

Ballet slippers seem like a good choice for my wedding, but I'm still dreaming of wearing shiny high heels! They are just so much more elegant than ballet slippers. However, my problem is exactly as you mentioned. My groom is only two inches taller than me, and I'm sure I'll really look big and tall when I wear high heels!

I wore my ballet slippers on my wedding day and it was absolutely comfortable! Since I've been ballet dancing since I was a child, wearing ballet slippers have become natural for me. It felt like I wasn't wearing anything when I walked down the aisle!
