A wedding is one of the most memorable and significant events in a man’s life. This is the occasion on which he and his fiancée formally accept each other as husband and wife and profess their marriage to the public. Such a memorable occasion calls for only the best in accommodations. From the attire worn by the bride, groom and witnesses to the after-wedding reception and party, couples try as hard as they can to make their wedding as wonderful and memorable as possible.

On this special occasion, even the groom’s neckties and cravats are given special attention. Neckties worn at weddings are often coordinated with the wedding’s overall theme. The groom, best man and the other male sponsors and witnesses usually match their ties with the theme’s color.

If you’re looking for the best wedding ties, be sure to include in your checklist the fabric used to make the tie. The best ties are usually made of silk, satin, or suede. These materials are premium materials, so if you really want your wedding to include such luxury you’ll have to spend some dollars.

If long ties are not your taste, you can opt for bow-ties or cravats. Cravats are traditional ties we often see in period films; this is where bow ties and neckties originate from. This type of garment also depends on the overall theme of your wedding.

Karat, I've been to black tie affairs a few times and I was never required to wear such things. You could ask the hosts if you can forgo such things, unless you are into that European aristocrat look.

@ FANCYWEDDINGATTIRE: Is it really necessary to wear a top hat and a cane in a black tie only event? My officemate is having a black tie wedding next month, and he invited me. Isn't it kind of tacky or ridiculous to wear a top hat and a cane. I haven't attended any wedding where I was required to use a cane before.

Carmine, In a black tie only event, you will need at least a tuxedo, consisting of black jacket, trousers, a bow tie and cummerbund. And if you aren't in the wedding party at a black tie preferred event, a good charcoal or black suit will in fact do. A white tie even though will need a little more work. You're going to need a tuxedo with tails, along with a top hat, cane, overcoat and a white tie. Because these kinds of high profile events are so uncommon though, you might consider renting out a costume rather than spending big for one.

Any specific tips on choosing the correct tie to wear? I appreciate the article but I hope it'll be more specific on how to choose these stuffs. As well as the best deals for them.
